i have 30 or so pages and i want to get the information of them. I don't have them in a digital copy and re typing the information is just a last resort. Is there some time kind of software out there to do this kinda of work ? Any suggestions would be great. How to copy information from a scanned page to usable data ?I don't think there is any such software. In fact this is the kind of application which is available as Human Intelligence Tasks (HIT's) in Amazon turk.
Okay here i suggest you a solution, open an amazon turk account and sign in as "requester" and upload your images. You can get your work done by someone else.
I tell you this assuming you are doing it at corporate level and don't mind spending money for getting your work done :)
Hope i helped !How to copy information from a scanned page to usable data ?OCR software (Optical Character Recognition) does a terrible job with accuracy.
an upper i, lower case L, 1, |
can be interpreted as the same character
a little blemish like a dot can cause all kinds of characters
by the time you audited what the OCR software did, you would have finished typing it two to three times over because you have to wait for the scanner to finish and then wait for the OCR program to finish. By the time you are done looking at the fifth page you will realize how much time you waisted. Oh, I forgot, there are some people who think it (OCR) can read papers that were manually filled out, those will not show up at all. It can not handle typed very well. How to copy information from a scanned page to usable data ?photoshop it
