How would you organize information on herbs?

I'm looking to find a way to organize information on herbs.

I was going to try to use index cards (cue cards), to remember the basic properties of each herb.

Is this a good system to use? Does anyone else have suggestions on how to store all this information? How would you organize information on herbs?I organise my herbs by action, what they do, as it is the most useful. So keep the cue cards by let say relaxing herbs, and adaptogens, and digestive herbs, so on. You will find the same herb will pop up in a number of cards, but that will help you to decide when you need to use them, as you might need herbs with relaxing, digestve action that are also bitters, so you pick the 3 cards, and you will find Verbena on it, so that is your herb for the job.How would you organize information on herbs?I would organize them in large 3 ring binders with divider tabs and labels. Organize them alphabetically, and then mark them with colored sticker dots to indicate what they are good for. That way, it will be easy to know what an herb does before you even read the information on it. For instance, if purple dots=antibiotic properties, blue dots=blood thinning properties, green dots=energy boosters, %26amp; magenta dots=Cholesterol lowering properties, Garlic would be filed under G and would have a purple dot, blue dot, and a Magenta dot. Good luck!
