What does a bed and breakfast do with credit card information upon booking?

I had to give credit card information to book a room recently, although my card won't actually be billed until we arrive. What will be done with the information in the mean time?What does a bed and breakfast do with credit card information upon booking?Nothing. However if you cancel they will charge your card a cancel fee.
