What information is mandatory in a police report?

One done by the cop that investigated a crime scene? In this case a suicide?

What information would they have to include in their report? What information is mandatory in a police report?Nothing really mandatory. There are more or less standard practices for working death investigations. Much too much to go into here. What information is mandatory in a police report?I agree with the other answers. You never investigate a suicide, just a suspicious death. The report should have a good description of the room and any medicines around. Was the room a mess? Where was the body located? What information is mandatory in a police report? There is no set standard for what goes in police reports. Sure, there is what is refered to as "tombstone" data such as important names, dates of birth and addresses of those involved. , times but in many cases the officers just put in their report what they feel is relevent to the matter being investigated. It could be anything and everything they learned. Much of the information that they learn however may not be relevant to the matter and as such it remains in their notes, which may or may not be scanned into or included in the report

Keep in mind though that these days officers don't investigate suicides. They investigate "suspicious deaths" and they are looking for any signs of foul play. If it turns out that there is none and/or the pathologist rules that it was suicide then thats where it ends. What they may or may not put in their final report is up to their discretion and/or dept policy.
