I never understood how metal and wires can hold information on a hard drive.. Can everything hold information?? How do the hard drives work??How can a bunch of silicon and wires and metal hold information on a computers hard drive?It's actually quite simple in theory. Your standard hard drive is comprised of metal discs. The metal is an iron compound that can be magnetized. If a certain part of the disc is magnetized, it's a 1. If not, it's a 0. Then a magnetic head just brushes over it reading and writing the data.
