What information must be provided on food labels?

What information is compulsory to include on food labels? What do the government say has to be stated in the food labels?What information must be provided on food labels?Legislation varies, but in EU manufacturers must show:



- Ingredients, listed in order (greatest quantity to least);



- Basic nutritional information, standardised per 100 grammes: Energy, Total Fat, Saturated Fat, Protein, Total Carbohydrate, Sugars, Fibre and Sodium;



- Brand owner / Distributor's name, address and contact details;



- For perishable foods, a "Use By" date. ("Best Before" dates are for non-perishable foods, and I don't believe they're obligatory)What information must be provided on food labels?Weight and breakdown of all ingredients including 'trace' elements.
